Seoul, Korea – Dec. 23, 2022 - Avantor, Inc., a leading global provider of mission-critical products and services to customers in the life sciences, advanced technologies and applied materials industries, has donated lab supplies and materials to two universities in Korea, Kyung Hee University and Kyonggi University. This contribution is part of Avantor’s community engagement efforts, which focuses on building the next generation of scientific talent.

"Avantor’s offerings are foundational to the work of students, scientists and researchers advancing global health and well-being,” said SangKyu Lee, Sales Director, Korea & Japan at Avantor. “We believe support for educational institutions in the community fosters the development of excellent scientific and medical talent that can innovate science.”

This is the second donation Avantor made to support the universities, following its initial contribution in 2021.  This year, Avantor donated proprietary consumables such as cell strainers, cell culture flasks, and centrifuge tubes as well as high-purity chemicals used in biopharmaceutical research and production processes. The donated items will be used by the university students as part of their scientific research and education.

Kyung Hee University will use the donated items in hands-on courses for students at its College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy. In addition, Kyung Hee University Medical Science Research Institute will utilize the materials on new drug development research and experiments.

KyungSik Yoon, Director, Medical Science Research Institute at Kyung Hee University said, “Following last year, we are very grateful to receive donations of useful items that help students strengthen their scientific capabilities, research new drugs, and propel scientific breakthroughs in Korea.”

The materials donated to Kyonggi University will be mainly used for the students at College of Convergence and Integrated Science, which aims to cultivate skill sets to contribute to the development of Korea’s growth in science industries and advancement of the community.
