Supporting our customers means having the right capabilities in the right places at the right time. Across our global manufacturing network, Avantor continues to invest in capacity and capabilities that bring critical materials closer to our customers and help them operate more efficiently.

That includes our manufacturing site in Gliwice, Poland, which is becoming an increasingly important part of Avantor's support for biopharma customers across Europe.

Avantor plans to invest approximately $3.7 million to further modernize and expand the Gliwice site, including the creation of a new clean room production area designed to meet ISO 8 classification requirements and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

“This investment is part of our broader “in-region for-region" strategy to strengthen our manufacturing capabilities closer to our customers,” said Mary Blenn, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “By expanding capacity and introducing greater automation in Gliwice, we can operate more efficiently while helping reduce lead times and strengthen supply reliability for our European customers.”

The investment builds on a multi-year expansion completed in 2025 that quadrupled the site's capacity to formulate and fill hydrated solutions using USP purified water and water-for-injection (WFI) quality water.

This next phase will further modernize the site with new production rooms, buffer storage areas, material and personnel airlocks, and advanced transport, filtration and quality control systems. The new capabilities are expected to become operational in late 2027 or early 2028.

“With new automated manufacturing and packaging processes, we'll be able to support materials including sodium chloride and dextrose while increasing production capacity to over four million kilograms annually,” said Marek Nowaczyk, Gliwice Site Director. “This is Avantor’s second significant investment in Gliwice in a short period of time, reflecting the important role the site plays in supporting our biopharma customers across Europe.”
